| Background |
Supporting Our Sons, Inc. (SOS) is a national non-profit membership
organization dedicated to the development of the whole boy.
Our mission is to ensure the healthy development of boys and
to support parents, educators, and professionals as they work
to help boys blossom. SOS is at the earliest stage of development
and is supported with seed money from individual donors.
Supporting Our Sons has three key program areas that bridge
the gap between home, school and community for boys. These
programs include:
The SOS Boyhood Advocacy
Training for Teachers (BATT) Program is based on our Whole
Boy Curriculum; this program provides elementary school
teachers with materials, tools and information that celebrates
the healthy development of boys in the classroom and beyond.
Through BATT seminars, educators learn the best teaching styles
for boys. This insures that our sons have the support they
need in the classroom to be the best learners they can be.
The SOS Boyhood Advocacy Workshops for Parents (BAWP) does
for parents what BATT does for teachers – providing
the information and tools necessary to enable parents to be
the best advocates for their sons.
The SOS Boyhood Advocacy for Mentors (BAM) Program provides
young adults the training and tools they need to be the best
mentors possible to young boys in their community.
